When I was a kid, I would always fall for really obvious ads. You know, just to see what would happen and all! XD I thought I'd be able to win big just by clicking on them and all.
Of course, I grew out of that habit, but for one reason specifically: I had this experience that definitely made me NOT want to do that anymore, to say the least XP
If I recall correctly, it was one of those pop-up ads. The scary one that would play a voice clip that said, "Congratulations! You won!". It scared me to death XD. Then the ad said something like, "This is not a joke! You are the 1,000,000th visitor!"
Of course, me being me, I felt sooooo lucky. What prize am I going to get? Free money? A copy of Dragon Blazers 3? I was so curious! Little me probably had it coming for her, but when I clicked on it...
... My entire PC froze. O.O I knew it was too good to be true. Needless to say, I was freaking out ... lol! Then it bluescreened, which... to be honest? It's weird, because usually ads do NOT do that. Maybe some, but usually it doesn't do something like this... Maybe someone was just crazy enough to code a troll pop up like that? I didn't touch it for weeks, I was scared that it was just gone forever XD
Now that I think about it, maybe I was dreaming of it, but the blue screen had a weird message. Something like "see you soon", but I couldn't read the whole thing before I shut off the computer...
Don't worry! It was fine afterwards, no viruses surprisingly! But yeah, lesson of the day is to not click on suspicious ads 'cuz you don't know where you might end up XP
